The Masked Singer has everyone buzzing, and this time, fans are convinced they've unmasked a true noughties icon!
Viewers are absolutely certain that the quirky character known as 'Monkey Business' is none other than the chart-topping star, Kate Nash. The buzz started during Saturday night's episode, with social media exploding with guesses and theories.
One fan enthusiastically posted on X (formerly Twitter): "I think it’s Kate Nash for monkey ngl #MaskedSingerUK." Another chimed in, highlighting potential clues: "Certain parts I’m hearing Kate Nash for Monkey Business. Hannah Waddingham links so well with the clues thoooo. #MaskedSingerUK."
But here's where it gets controversial... A particularly sharp-eyed viewer connected the dots, noting that Nash co-wrote 'Poison' for Rita Ora. This led to the confident declaration: "Monkey Business is Kate Nash." Several others agreed, with one person emphatically stating: "Locking in now that Monkey Business is the absolute QUEEN that is Kate Nash #MaskedSingerUK."
Kate Nash burst onto the music scene back in 2006, quickly becoming a household name. Over her two-decade career, she's released five studio albums, solidifying her place in the indie-pop world. Her biggest hit, 'Foundations,' reached an impressive number two on the UK singles chart in 2007.
And this is the part most people miss... After attempting to diversify her sound, Nash faced challenges with her record label, ultimately leading her to release music independently. Her most recent album, '9 Sad Symphonies,' dropped in 2024. Beyond her own music, she's also lent her songwriting talents to other artists, including the aforementioned hit 'Poison' for Rita Ora.
Last Sunday's episode saw Tea-Bag unmasked, revealed to be the rapper Professor Green. He performed Deep Blue Something’s Breakfast at Tiffany’s. He had attempted to disguise his voice with a posh accent and clues hinting at royal connections. The judges, including Maya Jama, Mo Gilligan, Davina, and Jonathan, offered their guesses, ranging from Rob Rinder to Mike Tindall.
After his reveal, Professor Green shared his joy at being able to hide behind a mask and embrace silliness. He also mentioned that his young son was a fan of the show and had no idea his dad was participating.
The Masked Singer continues next Saturday at 7 pm on ITV1, STV, ITVX, and STV Player.
