Samsung's rumored plans for the Galaxy S27 Pro have me worried. While the idea of a new high-end option in the Galaxy S series might sound appealing, the details reveal a potential disaster in the making. The S27 Pro is expected to share many of the Ultra's specifications, including the new Privacy Display, but it will reportedly not support the S Pen, a feature exclusive to the S27 Ultra. This raises a deeper question: how will Samsung justify the existence of the Pro alongside the Ultra? Will the Pro have a smaller display or feature specs similar to the S26 Ultra, while the Ultra gets even better cameras and battery tech? In my opinion, the real problem is that Samsung is adding the Pro without addressing the Galaxy S lineup as a whole. The S27 and S27 Plus are the two phones that objectively need the most work, but introducing the Pro inherently prevents Samsung from giving those models the upgrades they desperately need. This is a Band-Aid strategy that could prove even more damaging than the S25 Edge, which was largely ignored by consumers. The S27 Pro is poised to raise the Ultra's starting price and stunt the growth of the S27 and S27 Plus at the same time. The four-phone strategy doesn't work, and Samsung's plans for the S27 Pro only make things worse.
